Benefits of having a UI Kit that you might not realize yet

When I try to make my own “design system”, I’ve been thinking about

What if there is an set of design that can we use anytime, anywhere, but using our own design style.

Then this came through my head,

User interface Kit!

Same as a Design System, UI Kit is can be used to make our case study, exploration, even project from client done faster because we already have a bunch of designs that ready to use anytime, anywhere.

But, there is minus about having a UI Kit, UI Kit can hamper creativity and exploration of our project.

In this time, I don’t invite you to use a freebie UI Kit on the internet, but to make your own UI Kit. If you using a freebie UI Kit from the internet, you will not use your unique design style to your project or design exploration, but using someone’s else style. At this time too, I want you to have your unique style that can be remembered by your client or friends.

Why must unique? We can’t resist, there’s a lot of new designers that can be made a better design, so at this time, you must be stand out and unique.

For example, Bella is a famous UI Designer that always using Helvetica and Poppins font, also a mix of pastel color for her design.

So when someone sees a design with a layout that uses a unique pastel color mix also Helvetica and Poppins font, they will remember it was Bella's design style.

Profit having your own UI Kit

Faster and efficiency

With that bunch of designs, you don’t need to do a lot of exploration (optional) to finish 1 screen at the ongoing project.

Design consistency

Have trouble to make all your designs in the portfolio to have the same style? Say no more! With having your own UI Kit, your design and upcoming designs in the portfolio will be consistent, from the style, size, margin, etc, because you will use the style that you already set in your UI Kit.

Yes Man! to tight time Deadline project

With a bunch of designs inside the UI Kit that you already made, you can possibly finish it faster. But How?

You just need to,

  1. Drag your design from UI Kit, then
  2. Drop at your project artboard, and
  3. Adjust the design from your UI Kit to your client brand identity.

Don’t just good in UI, make it good in UX too!

Did I mention UX? A lot of UI Kit freebie that all around the internet (I think) is not good enough in UX. So, in my opinion, you better make your UI Kits are good in UX too, by testing it and maybe you can do a Heuristic evaluation or usability testing to improve the UX of your UI Kit.

How long it takes to make it?

We can’t determine how long to make the UI Kit because we want to improve our UI Kit to get better than before, following the trend, and also you want to add more design layout, right?
